Shoulders
This is a complex joint with a large range of motion, which makes it more susceptible to injuries. Shoulder injuries often occur from overuse, trauma or degeneration. Common treatable issues are AC separation, rotator cuff and labral tears, frozen shoulder, dislocation and arthritis. Treatment will be determined by the extent of the injury, often non-surgical with PT, meds, PRP or stem cells and if needed surgically using low invasive arthroscopy.
Hands & Wrist
Hand and wrist services to diagnose and treat conditions, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, tenosynovitis and TFCC tears. The goal is to improve function, reduce pain, and return to full strength and wrist/hand function.
Elbow
Diagnosing and treating conditions that can include lateral/medial epicondylitis, tendinitis, loose bodies, and cubital tunnel syndrome. Options may include non-surgical, such as physical therapy, medication, or injections, or surgery, such as arthroscopy or tendon repair.
Hips
Hip services diagnose and treat conditions that affect the hip joint, groin, lateral hip or gluteal area. Treatments can range from non-surgical options such as physical therapy and plasma/hyluronic acid/cortisone injections to surgical procedures like hip arthroscopy for labral or cartilage debridement or open ITB release or gluteal/ hamstring repair.
Knees
Problems include injuries such as meniscus, MCL/LCL, and ACL/PCL tears or overuse/degenerative conditions such as osteochondritis and osteoarthritis. Treatment options include non-operative as platelet-rich plasma, hyaluronic acid, or a steroid injection in combination with therapy or arthroscopic debridement or repair, depending on the specific condition.
Foot & Ankle
The foot/ankle position is a critical portion of the lower extremity axis which affects not only the hips and knees but also the lower back. Dr Ekstrand takes particular interest in realigning this axis using orthotics, braces, and therapy. She also evaluates patients with intra-articular foot/ankle injuries such as OCD lesions, spurs, loose bodies as well as extra-articular ligament and tendon tears. Many foot and ankle issues can be treated with non-surgical approaches, such as physical therapy, orthotics, and plasma/hyluronic acid/cortisone medications, and some issues require arthroscopic or open surgical procedures.
